With a growing stomach comes some general discomfort. The belly just feels cumbersome some days. Each growth spurt I hit, I have to learn how to adjust to my new size and work around my stomach, Ha! Tying shoes, shaving legs, and putting on pants takes on a whole new form.
Walks are still going well, albeit a slower pace and shorter distance, but I’m still walking most every day. Yoga feels amazing and gives me a chance to engage my muscles while releasing tension simultaneously. It’s been a great low-impact form of exercise that I’ve enjoyed throughout my pregnancy. I feel best when I’m up and moving. I’ve told you that my one big complaint has been upper back pain on my right side (I’m pretty sure this is a pinched nerve caused by my ribs compressing, but I’m no doctor) and sitting makes that worse.
My energy level is pretty high but I’m crediting that to getting decent sleep. Definitely tossing and turning a bit more, and last night I was wide awake at 3am and read for an hour before falling back asleep (mind you, I went to bed before 10pm on a Saturday night, woohoo!). Most days I feel pretty well rested, which I’m holding on to for now!
I had my routine check up at week 32 and our baby was still breeched (has been for the last several appointments). Of course, there is still time and he/she could always turn, but we had to schedule a tentative c-section, just in case. I’m mentally preparing myself for all possible outcomes, but I still have faith that our baby could turn head down before our next appointment. In the end all that matters is we have a safe delivery with a healthy baby, only time will tell what kind of delivery that will end up being.
I tell everyone that we are mentally and emotionally SO ready. On the other hand, there’s still a handful of things I need to do that I’ve just been putting off. We have a few more things to buy – like a bouncer or swing for baby (basically something to PUT the baby in when I need a break from carrying), an armoire of some sort to store baby clothes, blankets, etc. (we have a changing table with drawers, but diaper stuff is pretty much filling that right now), a few more newborn clothes for those first days/weeks, aaand… there’s probably more that I’m forgetting right now.
I’ve washed our crib sheets and the 0-3 month clothes we do have, and the next thing to wash is the cloth diapers. Yes, we are going to attempt cloth diapering. Some of you are going to think I’m absolutely insane, but this decision came after LOTS of research and many months of weighing the pros and cons. There are tons of great/easy options out there right now in the way of cloth diapers, forget about safety pins and pre-folds, they pretty much make cloth diapers just like disposables these days. Yes, we will be dealing with POOP. I’m okay with that. However, I’m not crazy enough to think that I’ll want to test out cloth diapers in those first few weeks or even months (not to mention that they probably won’t fit the babe yet), we will use disposables until we get our heads wrapped around things. Same goes for travel, we’ll probably use disposables then too. I’m not taking the all or nothing approach, I just figure if we can help out the environment a little and save some money, then why not? I’ll let you know how it goes.
And that’s about it for now! We are definitely getting more and more excited as we count down the weeks. It’s kind of consuming my mind these days! I feel like I am constantly interacting with our baby already since those kicks and movements are so pronounced now. We go back to the doc at week 35, I’m very anxious to see whether his/her position has changed or not. And that will be the next baby update!
